The Parlor was the front room of the house where the children were NEVER allowed to randy about, unless it was to sit, clean and quiet, during a visit from the Preacher, the In-laws, or the Ladies of Society and it was every Victorian Woman's pride and joy.  

This is the room where she displayed her skillful handiworks and beloved acquired artifacts in the forms of embroidered pillows, floral arrangements in exquisite vases, crocheted doilies, fine needlepoint, elaborate lampshades and original paintings.
